Princess & Me: Snow White’s No-Sew Hair Bow

Just like Cinderella’s most prized possessions are her glass slippers, Snow White’s favorite accessory is her beautiful red bow! Living on the edge of the forest means that Snow White spends most of her time exploring the outdoors. Taming loose hair while still staying fashionable for the castle, bows are the perfect hair accessory for the adventuring princess.

Whether it is for yourself or even a holiday present for a friend, creating hair bows is easy and fun! Today, use Snow White’s step by step no-sew tutorial to create your own beautiful hair bow in the blink of an eye!

Step One: Gather your materials.

You will need:

  • One large piece of  fabric in a color of your choice

  • Scissors

  • Hot glue gun

  • One barette clip

Step Two: Plug in your hot glue gun so it can begin heating. Carefully cut your fabric into two pieces, about 10”x8” and 5”x7”.

Step Three: Take the bigger piece of fabric and fold it “hot-dog style”, bringing the edges of the fabric in to meet at the middle. Have an adult hot glue the edges together.

Step Four: Once the glued fabric has cooled, fold the edges in 2 inches on each side and glue.

Step Five: Using the same fabric piece, turn it so that the glued side is facing up. Place a single glue dot in the very middle of the fabric and use your fingers to pinch the fabric above and below the glue into the middle.

Step Six: Now, take your smaller piece of fabric. Fold this piece “hot-dog style” just like the first, and carefully glue. (Note: if you are using a thinner fabric, only glue each end so that it does not show through in the finished bow)

Step Seven: With your bow face-up, place a large dot of glue in the center. Before it dries, wrap the other piece of fabric around the bow. Tack the end of this piece at the back of the bow with hot glue.

Step Eight: Take your barrette clip and open it. Glue the top side of the barrette to the back of the bow. Wait for the glue to dry completely before snapping the clip shut.
